Born in Schwäbisch Gmünd, pianist Konrad Elser studied at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart with professors Paul Buck, Andrzej Jasinski and Oleg Maisenberg. Konrad Elser was a student of Martha Argerich in Geneva and took master classes with Lew Vlasenko, Jörg Demus and Nikita Magaloff, among others.
Konrad Elser has received awards and honors in numerous competitions. In 1982, he won the bronze medal at the Geneva International Music Competition. In 1984 he was laureate of the German Music Competition in Bonn, in 1985 he won first prize at the Epinal International Piano Competition, in 1987 and 1989 he got prizes at the Busoni Competition in Bolzano and at the Schubert International Competition in Dortmund. His concert activities as a soloist and chamber music partner brought Konrad Elser to Europe, South America, China and Japan. For many years he gave concerts with the ‘Melos Quartet’, with well-known artists such as David Geringas, Ida Bieler, Thomas Brandis, tenor James Wagner, the ‘Artemis Quartet’, ‘Lotus Quartet’, ‘Cuarteto Casals’ and the ‘Trio di clarone’ with Sabine Meyer. A passionate teacher and juror, Konrad Elser has earned an excellent reputation. After teaching at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart and the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Esslingen, Konrad Elser teaches at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck, where he trains young pianists as a piano and chamber music teacher. |
